interesting approach with an interesting explanation. Reminds me of the Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. There, too, are the first colonists a very special kind of person. Probably you need those characters to ask for something off the ground. Incidentally, this novel is a highly interesting and complex political and social study. Very worth reading. Perhaps the fiction is being overtaken by reality.
